Raising money in Eaxia is not too difficult a task. Equipped as you are when you arrive, you are capable of going out to earn a bit of gold with which to upgrade your equipment and buy other essentials.

Creatures that you defeat will drop three types of items: treasure boxes, gold coins, and miscellaneous items. Gold coins can be directly deposited in your bank account. To do this, enter a bank (The Bank of Semanri is located at South Town Square: GO BANK or GO ARCH) and DEPOSIT ALL or DEPOSIT [amount] to deposit a set amount of coins. To check your balance, simply type BALANCE; and to withdraw money from your account WITHDRAW [amount] or WITHDRAW ALL to empty your account. Most cities have a bank or depository where you can make these transactions.

Miscellaneous items include weapons, armor, magic items, clothing, containers, and other "fluff" items such as jewelry and junk. Some of these items are highly valued to other adventurers and can be sold for coins or kept at your discretion. The other items are valued for aesthetic reasons and are usually either kept or donated to other players.

Treasure boxes dropped by creatures come in many varieties, including: strongboxes, cases, caskets, cages, caissons, coffers, crates, trunks, lockboxes, caddies, boxes, barrels, chests, and vessels. The creatures hoard their treasure so the boxes they drop are always trapped. You need to DISABLE them before you can loot the contents. Simply hold the box in your right hand while your left is empty and DISABLE [box type]. This will teach the Disable Device skill. Currently there are several types of traps and they are, in order of difficulty disabling: imp, boomer, soulstealing, poison dart, and sleeping gas. The more practice you have with Disable Device, the easier the traps will be to disarm.

Once you disable the box successfully, simply OPEN it and loot the contents. Usually the boxes will contain some gold as well as several gems. These gems can be sold at a jeweler. In Semanri, the jeweler is located to the west of STS through the halfdoor or GO JEWELER. Here you can SELL [gem type] for gold.
